Heck no! CVS also lacks sufficient habituated customers. How about Yum! brands with KFC Pizza Hut Taco Bell take over?
Walgreens must be in worse financial/managerial failure than is generally known to the public.
CVS owns their own PBM, so the stores are just dispensaries for the profit generated by buy-low/sell high. However, the competition AND the govt (including Medicare) have a ring around CVS’s neck, so they can’t choke down the really big profits due to the govt ring not allowing it to go down.
Are you sure that will not magically go away?
Steve
Might try, but it will bite big time when the price of prescriptions goes sky high–causing a mega die-off of older conservative voters in a short time period. Then the ring will be put back OR the heads cut off the drug networks as the federal govt establishes a national buying strategy for all drugs used in the US. You know, like all the other countries.
