We are pausing for 90 days

Markets on that news ripped 10% higher.

Imagine you are member of the administration with a little foreknowledge and a brokerage account. Perish the thought.

That would be illegal. But today morning Trump openly said be patient buy now… so he did give public a headsup

Well, kinda pausing. A 90 day “pause” at 10% for all the bootlicker countries. China tariffs just escalated to 125%, effective immediately. Yay, the markets are going wild!

Let’s add insider trading to the long list of illegal activities.

The Art of the Deal at work. Why is it that people don’t take known knowns seriously?

I just got up and turned on my computer.

I was wondering if they invoked the 25th Amendment.

China gets punished for its ‚lack of respect to the World’s Markets‘.

Looks like being unable to tell aggressor from aggressed party is more widespread than initially thought.

“Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately,” Trump said in his social media post.

But then we’d be stuck with Vance. Not sure that’s a lot better.

The whole administration is dumber than rocks.

Although at least Congress would be involved.

I take known clowns very seriously.

Not this cabinet, they probably don’t even know what that is.

I think it’s fair to acknowledge China’s unfair trade practices. But self-awareness isn’t strong with this one. He has no inkling as to how he’s roiled the world’s markets, flushing trillions of dollars down the toilet.

China is patient, but they must be getting an itchy trigger finger. How long before they blow up US treasuries?

Yields on the 10 year up 3.5% today… someone is selling already. How ‚disrespectful‘. Will incremental tariff revenues be wiped out by higher interest expense?

“The more troubling narrative of late is the notion of what we call a ‘sell America Inc.’ risk,” said ING’s regional head of research for the Americas region, Padhraic Garvey. “And it’s one that’s now dominating the rising-recession-risk theme that typically would have pushed yields down.”

Is it illegal? I think I recall a few years ago that insider trading (per se) was declared legal for members of congress, and maybe for anyone in high-level government.

Do we still get $2 billion per day in tariff revenue, or was that “just kidding?”

Or was that “negotiating”?
I suppose with your constituents?

Or did Navarro just whisper that he used the wrong elasticity in his brilliant formula and if they use their formula as written, most tariffs are 10%?

This is a sitcom.

Aren’t pols exempt from insider trading crimes? Of course, TIG has been given a free pass for any sort of criminal activity, while in office, if he can make some sort of claim that the activity was in pursuit of his job as POTUS.

Congress is not same as members of administration or “executive”. There is a reason they divest their holding before taking a position with administration.

They are not required to do so under law. That has often been past practice, not statutory law.

Additionally, the enforcement mechanism for any violations resides within the Executive Branch, soooo good luck with that.

Note this is from 2022 so this isn’t just the current admin:

Do you have a link to that.

This is a very positive move toward sanity. Tariffs abandoned, except for the one country that really deserves them.

His most feared monster, the “deep state” monster, emerged from under his bed, grabbed him by his pajama lapels, and threatened to drag him before the World Economic Forum in chains. He took the hint.

Not abandoned. More drama scheduled for 90 days from now. Listening to TIG’s comments now. He is saying Schumer and Pelosi said they had wanted to do something with tariffs for years, but no POTUS was willing to take the heat to do it.
