What to do if you get insurance mailing

Do not rip up car part insurance mailings.

This is an oddball happening. It is the first time my mechanics have seen this. The shop’s history is 45 years in business.

I received a letter from an insurer saying the NAPA part installed by my mechanic was free of charge. This is two months after the installation.

The part and service were insured. It was the insurer informing me.

I have a check for $361 to pick up tomorrow at the mechanics shop.

Yep.

I got a mailing from my Obamacare insurer after I turned 65 that I assumed was another Medicare Advantage scam, but I opened it anyway.

It was a check for $632.00 – a rebate because my insurer had failed to spend the required 80% of premiums collected on actual health care. Funny thing was that the premiums I paid for the last 2 years of Obamacare was $17.16 per year – less than $35 total.

It’s the one time I actually got an “investment” return on an insurance policy.
