where do I/we go from here?

Let’s see you pull some numbers and run your value analysis on some of the companies featured here. I’d like to see some of the number crunching, the type that people do on this board when they put out monthly summaries. I’d like to see some work out of you.

Here’s an example, if you need a model:

I think the reason your posts really get pulled is that you are lazy. You put in no work.

I’ll give you SNOW to work on - owned by WEB’s company itself. As far as I know, BRK did buy SNOW and did not sell SNOW at the peak. Can you run the DCF and explain why you think The Man or at least his company thinks that SNOW is a value proposition. How about running the numbers for buying Apple?

Then, at the end of your post with the FCF, the gross margins, you will have some weight

Thanks in advance,

RW (my BRK and SBUX was bought in the past century, BTW)

Good morning,
I have been a late-comer to Saul’s board. I have found it fascinating and full of some of the consistently best analysis on any board ever. This is a testament to the way the board is run and I hope you all appreciate it for that.

I would suggest you all adopt the “Value Hounds” board as a second home; one where you can discuss some of the underlying issues. I suggest that board because it’s the only other board I pay regular attention to. We’ve addressed some of your angst in advance. There’s a lot to know about the stock market casino.

I will close by saying, and I know I speak for many but perhaps not all in this trying time: Saul is not wrong. The picks you all have made are not wrong. You only need to experience this type of market and sear it into your memory; take notes. Unless you are near the end of your investing career, you’ll be fine. You won’t know “fine how” for ten years, when DDOG or UPST finally show a CAGR of 10%+ and a PS of 3, ZS has a CAGR of 30% and a P/S of 3 (any sane person could have predicted it in 2022…not) and all of the others have gone bust or still sell for 3x sales, which is a hopeful valuation, but that $8 stock is the one you paid $110 for in 2022. But combined all together, the fabulous, the bad and the ugly? Chances are that your average CAGR will be 5-10%.

Best of luck to you all…hang in there.

How do we solve it?
If we feel having such comments on board clutters the board, then one idea is to have a parallel board for OT posts. May be name it “Saul’s Investing OT Discussions” with no censorship or minimal censorship so that we can get more opinions free of fear.

I think that misses the main lessons of Saul’s board, which so few people seem to be able to grasp: the chit-chat boards solve nothing, and nobody becomes wiser, you might as well name such a board “Saul’s Sewage”…but why Saul would want his name on such a thing is beyond me; you do not have to “say something”; you do not have to “vent”, though on occasion it’s helpful to see how others feel and simply acknowledge it with a rec.

If Saul’s board has highlighted anything to me over the years it’s that unrestrained communication is a pointless death spiral, and the people who like it aren’t worth associating with.

These question and answer “Send me a good link, that one didn’t work” should be sent off board and not clutter up the board.
Thanks

but this does not in the least change the fact that “we” treat him exactly the way “you” here treat what for you are Trolls.

Well, I’m not sure I agree. His posts are not deleted. He’s allowed to say his piece. And frankly, I wouldn’t say I see him as a troll. I’ve come to not pay much attention to some of his posts, since I disagree with his argument that since the S&P has outperformed BRK over some historical time periods it will continue to do so (that argument is no longer valid, as BRK has clobbered the S&P recently).
