Who's paying the claims for the Pacific Palisades fire?

Average, middle-class California homeowners.

A few months back, regulators pointed out that the ### California FAIR Plan had $454 Billion worth of homeowner’s insurance in force, backed by a $200 million surplus and $2.5 billion of reinsurance. “We’re one disaster away from having to place an assessment on every insurer selling homeowner’s insurance in the state”.

Those insurers will then have to jack rates on their customers to recoup the losses.

One of the crux reasons I left California was this dangerous idiocy of

  1. absurdly priced home insurance.
  2. No wait, the problem is idiotically placed and built structures.

You can have affordable homeowners insurance. You can build what you want where you want how you want. But not both.

Say that too loud and both the reds and the blues want to stone you to death.

We need a labor party.

Note in UK the Conservatives look like moderates. There is competition to the left.
