Why Greece Moved Towards a 13 Hour Work Day

I don’t think you could pay me enough to work 13 hours/day.

Maybe this is what’s required to compete with AI ?

People at my pharmacy work 4 10 hour days. The love it, they get a 3 day weekend every week, and sometimes a 4 day weekend. That wouldn’t be too shabby.

When I first started playing golf I had six weeks of vacation and would play a lot of golf on Fridays. I would get paired up with a lot of engineers that worked at Shell. Seems they had some kind of odd ball name for their schedule something like 9/81 or something. It’s been a while ago.

That was my schedule at the last place I worked before I retired. It was great. Even when we needed to work OT, we could do it on Friday and still have a two-day weekend.

I’m surprised that more companies don’t run that schedule. They get more work time out of the 40-hour work week. If a company has 2 fifteen-minute breaks each day, that’s 2.5 hours of break time in a 5-day week. A 4-day work week has only 2 hours of break time.

Try the oilfield. A regular work day in most field positions is 12.5 hrs when you count in pre-tour safety meeting each day. One of the benefits is that you generally only have to work half the year, but a big drawback is that you may be away from home for your entire work hitch.
