Another way is to eliminate all poverty.
A lot of people won’t, but millions will. Same with flying.

Tesla is achieving Level 4 FSD with a much cheaper car than Waymo (i.e., less expensive technology). That makes Tesla FSD more affordable to more car buyers.
Waymo’s CEO discusses that here.
Also interesting that Waymo is licensing their system to Hyundai and Toyota, with the goal of making it the standard across multiple manufacturers’ platforms.

“Seems clear to me that cars are designed to be leased these days”
I’ve never leased, but I have had that same thought for awhile now. But still rack up miles above the what is the standard? 12,000 miles per year, so not ready for it yet. But it’s starting to make more sense. ( and cents )
Does it? Every time I’ve looked into leasing it seems like a screw job.
Tesla used to refuse to offer buyback option on its leases claiming it wanted to use the returns for robotaxis. Instead, they were upgrading the software (free to Tesla) and reselling them at higher prices.
If the car company selling you the lease thinks you are a chump, you are probably a chump.
.
A couple of my coworkers at the Steelcase dealership leased. Kelly said “I get a new car when the old one needs wiper blades”. Another one always got a 3 year lease, and, after two years, started looking for a “lease pull-ahead” offer, because she wanted something different. One time, she bought. That car was gone in one year, traded in on a new lease.
Generally, a lot of people only think of the monthly payment, not the total they are paying. They can get a bigger, fancier car, by leasing.
It doesn’t surprise me that my fellow skinflints on this board don’t understand why people lease. Our brains are wired differently.
