Several years ago, I heard some luminary on either FNN or bubblevision, offer that āin an ideal world, people would die the day they get their last paycheckā. By that measure, this woman would have been the ideal employee, not āburdeningā the āJCsā with her retirement expenses. However, I am sure the āJCsā would have preferred she die on her own time, rather than cluttering up the office.

It depends if she was salary yes.
If she was hourly she should be fired.
As usual media amplified this story way beyond reality. Turns out that she arrived Friday, worked Friday and died sometime that day, and she was in a cubicle in a sparsely populated area of the building. And because of so much WFH, they donāt clean the rarely used areas every day anymore. And her body was discovered some time on Monday. So basically she died late Friday and was there for the weekend.
But it is wells, I would expect nothing less.
Ah! So she should get time and a half for being there on Saturday and Sunday.
The estate should also claim the vacation pay.
