With the Putin EU energy embargo electricity pricing will soar. Folks will put off that EV purchase. And they may wait to see how their nation energy importation policy changes to bring back old electricity pricing. It is possible the impact upon EV sales may longer than a quarter.
So would you rather own a car that runs on gasoline, where that fuel also is imported from Russia?
I don’t know what the situation on the ground looks like in Germany…I can imagine long gas lines to fill up as well as electricity being cut off with high prices.
But would you rather sit in a gas line or just plug in at home and get charged when the power does come on?

There are no gasoline lines in the EU yet nor are not they likely to develop if the EU develops other sources such as India’s gasoline refineries are processing Russian petroleum mixed with with petroleum from other nations into petroleum products for export. Russian oil as Chinese fake honey will make its way into the world market place just by a less direct route. Capitalism will trump any western sanctions.

Keyword: yet
Maybe there will be, maybe there won’t be.
You can buy your own solar panels. Not very many will buy their own oil refinery.
It is a good idea for there to be a diversity of transportation fuels available to the public.
This prevents one supply being cut off from completely disabling the country

tj,
People in the EU will hold off on all major purchases because of the war, not just EVs. ICE sales will falter also along with new refrigerators, air-conditioners, TVs, computers, and other consumer goods.

Yes I would have to agree. Though I would put emphasis on energy pricing rather than the war. Household budgets will have less disposable income.
We do know that EU electricity pricing is surging driven by the Nord shut down. The individual nation impact varies by the % of power generated by natural gas of course.

Gasoline & petro price not so much because the EU is still buying Russian oil. That will change though. But how much Russian oil will be entering the EU via India petroleum products refined partially from Russian oil? We will just have to wait & see how that shakes out.

Not useful is your 2015 link based on 2013 data:

Russia supplied around 40% of the EU’s gas before its invasion of Ukraine. That share has plummeted to 9%, as Moscow has cut supplies to Europe, blaming the cuts on technical issues caused by Western sanctions.
