If something might be on a 40-year cycle, does a 30-year chart have much value? Is there a 100-year chart for this one?
@MarkR this is the chart I usually use. It begins in 1977 which is the first year that the Treasury issued 30 year bonds. The Y axis is plain and not logarithmic like the one @captainccs shared.

For all practical purposes from Volcker to the present, falling interest rates have favored shares and that might be over for a time. Based on a murky, fog bound, not overly accurate, low quality crystal ball.
