Reminds me of what Amazon tried to do years ago. It was called Amazon Go. Haven’t seen/heard anything about it in years.

Electronic panels on grocery carts usually for ads and promotions has been tried before. Not very popular. Ive never seen one.
Adapting to scan items added to the basket should be easy. Preweighed produce?
Better than self checkout? Which lets you look-up items and count or weigh them.
