Apparently keep track of your purchases without the need to wait in line to check out. Labor savings? A way to address the manpower shortage.
We’ve been using the Sam’s Club app for some time now, which allows one to scan and tally one’s purchases as they shop, and skip the checkout. I’ve wondered how long before they integrated this feature into the ‘normal’ shopping experience (i.e., into the shopping cart).

Do they ever spot check? Do they count items as you exit like at Costco?
