Amazon reports decent quarter

I am spoilt by the AAPL, FB, BOFI, INBK earnings! Amazon did well as well, just not as well as the above. It’s up in AH trading.

Operating cash flow increased 25% to $6.84 billion for the trailing twelve months, compared with $5.47 billion for the trailing twelve months ended December 31, 2013. Free cash flow decreased to $1.95 billion for the trailing twelve months, compared with $2.03 billion for the trailing twelve months ended December 31, 2013.

Net sales increased 15% to $29.33 billion in the fourth quarter, compared with $25.59 billion in fourth quarter 2013. Excluding the $895 million unfavorable impact from year-over-year changes in foreign exchange rates throughout the quarter, net sales increased 18% compared to fourth quarter 2013.

Operating income was $591 million in the fourth quarter, compared with operating income of $510 million in fourth quarter 2013.

Anirban.

The earnings were good, but for FB, BOFI and INBK the voting machine has not yet caught up with the counting machine. (Or the voting machine was ahead of the counting machine, depending on how you look at it).

Anyway I’ll take it.

Good point. I would say the voting machine was bit ahead of the counting machine for FB, BOFI, and may be even CELG. None of these are “cheap” per traditional valuation metrics.

INBK is cheap, so when the voting machine catches up it would be a rocket going up, up, and up. Got to be patient and understand the risks, volatility, and thin trading volumes for INBK.

I would say GILD is another good biotech where the voting machine hasn’t figured out how much money GILD will be printing in the next several quarters.
