I’m going to look like the Pillsbury dough boy the next time I have the misfortune to fly American Airlines. I’ll put all the small stiff in a fishing vest and wear 2 weeks worth of clothes in layers. Screw em.

Easy fix, ship the vitals ahead of time to the destination hotel… There are services, I understand, don’t know the details, costs, do the same going home, or just leave it all behind… I never check anything I can’t do without…
I never fly American. Or Southwest. In fact I avoid flying altogether. But an considering a business or first class flight from Europe this decade.

The airlines are incentiving (sp?) carry-on by passengers, which over-flows the bins, and causes people to gate check. Slowing everything down. Its absurd. Makes me wonder if gate checking is still free?
Southwest is marketed as a budget airline, but it is actually a full service airline. No checked bag fees and no change fees.
What’s the fare difference between basic economy and economy ? I avoid basic economy myself - I like to pick a seat, etc. At least at United, there are all kinds of flags and warnings about buying basic economy vs economy.
Except for on flying the type of plane that falls out of the sky, they have a great business.

In recent years, seems Southwest’s “economy” is in maintenance and IT. Old Herb is probably spinning in his grave over what “professional management” has done to his airline.
