America's Best Banks ranked by Forbes

America’s Best Banks ranked by Forbes: Here’s the link.

Forbes gives a clear explanation of what the criteria are and how they rank them. This isn’t just a “let’s give our friends a plug” kind of thing. The first of the big banks to make the list is Wells Fargo at 52nd best. Someone asked about BANC. It’s ranked 56th.

Signature Bank (SBNY), which you are probably tired of hearing about from me, is rated sixth overall (!). Neither BOFI nor INBK seems to have made the Best 100. This is the sixth year in a row that SBNY has made the top ten of the Forbes list of America’s Best Banks. I suspect that they are doing something right.

If you go directly to Forbes, you’ll see that the ranking is actually “Rating America’s 100 Largest Banks” not America’s best banks (the “best” description seems to be the invention of the headline writer at BankScoop).

The smallest bank on the list has $7 billion in total assets so it appears as though neither BofI nor INBK meet the minimum total assets criteria.

NewEchota: You are correct that BOFI and INBK are not large enough to get on the list, but what Forbes is doing is taking the 100 largest banks and RATING them! And Signature ranks 6th BEST, and is in the BEST ten for the sixth year straight. (Obviously Signature isn’t the 6th largest, and Wells Fargo isn’t the 52nd largest).
