Anecdotal Tesla versus Ford

Was just watching a video about the auto market. The speaker showed the cheapest Ford on the Ford dealership. A lot was a Ford escape 2023 at $34,000. The Tesla model Y can be bought for $42,500 before the $7500 rebate with the rebate you’re looking at $35,000 for a all-wheel-drive long range model three there is simply no competition

You realize that was a rather silly comparison, right? Might your video have a bias?

Not everyone gets a rebate. That specific ford is anecdotal and not representative.

Just as anecdotal (and silly): I just searched my 50 mile geographic area on autotrader for used fords 2023 and newer for less than $30k. There are 38 of them.

A 2023 Ford Escape with 17k miles is for sale at $22k.

Made me look:

Long Range All-Wheel Drive

  • Est. Purchase Price$49,630

A dealer near casa del Steve has a 2022 Lincoln Corsair (tarted up Escape), with 18k on the clock, and a CPO warranty, for $27,500.

Thing is, Ford is tied with VW for the highest warranty claims expense, as a percent of sales, in the world. So, unless you really like spending your time in the service department waiting room, you might want to mosey down the street, to a company that is not so entirely in the grip of Welchism.

Hawkwin I saw the same video. It was a brand new Ford escape with the model year of 2023 that still hadn’t sold yet. At the 3:44 mark

LOL! Probably because they are trying to sell it for $34,000!

You can buy a brand new 2025 base model for 28,000, or a Platinum model for 35k.
