Annoying Problem in Paradise

Note One) I am a bumbling, Inspector Clouseau type amateur investor. For those with ears this should tell you all you need to know about any posts you might stumble across here.

Earlier this year the market went down… a bunch - and then; in April it went up a bunch. I got in - then I got out. Simple enough. But the getting out phase has created an annoying problem, much like a light tooth ache that just nags at me. Nothing severe - or perhaps just some irritating subtle background noise that you can’t seem to fully locate or turn off. Or something similar to that.

Anyway…the problem I have discovered is that now that I am “Out” I have pile of economic power just sitting around doing nothing much: ergo… a homeless camp of unemployed cash…as it were. See what I mean? An annoying fiscal problem…an absolutely ancillary unanticipated result of ‘The getting of the Out’ that probably, in different circumstances might be labeled as ‘collateral results’; Of no particular color, other than presenting me with the ordinary investing question of what to do now. See what I mean?

It doesn’t help that I am normally so inclined…maybe even addicted, to the “Doing of Something” side of life; which, I note is not getting all that less demanding as I get older. A very real, but personal, conundrum without well defined borders! The good news is that it is also something of an opportunity - such as that might be.

Note Two). Yesterday I was tempted - very, very tempted - to reenter APP. Sold at $374.89 but On Sale yesterday Pre-Market at around $341 and some change. In fact, with the exception of one name I sold a week or so ago, all the sellees are a at decent enough lower price tag now. (the lone name not actually below what I sold it for is ALAB - and I have sent a very stern letter to its CEO.). But…I resisted for a couple of reasons: 1) I just didn’t want to get back “In” when a full summer of travel and care free existence looms. And 2) By selling I have gained 3-4 hours a day in carefree opportunity to once again play a lot of golf or any other activity/or planned inactivity stuff as I so deem reasonably appropriate.

Now - having bleated about my self imposed investing dilemma like a helpless old goat - not all that sure old goats bleat but you get the gist of it - I decided to put together the New Dream Team roster that will/could/might bloom into existence at any moment…any moment. As Follows:

App - Franchise Player
PLTR - Power Forward
ALAB - Small Forward
HIMS - Point
TMDX/MNDY - Rotation Shooting Guards

NVDA - First off Bench
RDDT - Bench
INOD - Bench
NBIS - Bench
UPST - Bench

Any moment now…could be as soon as early September or October but probably sooner dependent on what the Market allows. Heck of a plan. Eat your heart out Warren!

Sorry Champ but I couldn’t let you win them all. I have been buying Alab after you sold it, I mean buying a lot, just out of envy of how well you have been doing. Call it jealousy. :joy:

Perhaps you should consider extravagant purchases that you ‘always wanted’ to help reduce that cash.
Isn’t that why we invest?

I find myself looking at an Apple watch, and/or used Tesla as ways of disposing of that stuff…

Trips are a good cash user to if ‘old goat’ is of a certain age.

Hey BuynHold:

Good call on ALAB. Smarty Pants!

The reality of the situation is simply PDL on timing and that every single stock I recently sold could decide they are in the Kentucky Derby and run wild next week. For all the Fools invested I hope that’s exactly how it works out.

Hey Neuro:

I’m married so I have a boss and If I were to go crazy and start making ‘Extravagant Purchases’…my All-To Lovely might make me a resident of the barn. Now…I don’t really mind the barn all that much…it’s just that the wine cellar is in the house. Besides the only thing I don’t have just now is a lime green Hula Hoop. What I wouldn’t give to get a lime green hula hoop!

I don’t talk about my losers because My Mother always told me if you couldn’t say anything nice then don’t say anything at all, funny I remember that about my stocks but not much else. :grimacing:

Except for the occasional and brief intermittent periods of personal sorrow and lamentations (Interspersed generously with four letter words - I never, ever speak about Luckin Coffee.

(Lying low down, rotten, dogface pony soldiers that they are.)

I generally have a forgiving nature and let bygones be bygones.

(Flea ridden, pond scum and dirty sons of dogs that Luckin Coffee was)

Its all in the past and best to forget and forgive!
