Are we focusing on the right things?

The community here is super worried that DeepSeek is not talking about Tiananmen Square, not giving false data, just not providing anything. Yet , from President to bulk of the media wilfully lies and we are okay with it. We are okay with it?

Elon Musk is accessing classified data and private citizens/ entities financial data without any background check, or vetting. Even officials who are in charge of security could not stop it, because they are getting fired.

Details about us are being looted in daylight, no one is talking about it, because we are too busy with other things.

I think that is a lie. (Don’t want you to think I am ok with it). Multiple people have pointed it out and cited multiple instances including me.

I don’t think you are reading these boards. Multiple posts are being put out about it and people are talking about it. Maybe the posts have been deleted or hidden because it upsets other people but people are talking about it. Although I do not see you posting on “most” of the threads.

Also, just because you have a warm spot in your heart for China and deepseek does not mean everybody has to agree. I want to point out to you that everyone has a right to their opinion, even if you dislike it.

For instance, watch what happens.

I know you won’t watch this but it is a great video. It doesn’t take that much time when you do 1.5 speed.

Nothing can be further from truth. I am not a fan of communism. For all its failures, still democracy is the best system. I was merely pointing out how we are having different standards for different folks. I should have stopped on this threat long back…

I go where I can make money, that is very different from my personal values with some exceptions.

I agree so do I but I don’t shut my eyes and mind either. The Fool is censoring all the time and I expound on that also. What is even worse is you used to be able to ask for another board and now they have crammed everyone into the few remaining boards.

Russia and China are not communist. They are both fascist. Does not matter what the party is still called.

You are listening only to yourself. You are not a part of this board.

really Leap? I thought this was a public board.

Politicians are by definition political animals. Truth is not a requirement, particularly if you have an electorate like we do that lack the ethical character and moral backbone to punish politicians that lie. We deserve what we elect. Sad part is we don’t expect this president to tell the truth.

In contrast, DeepSeek’s value as an AI search engine is in providing accurate and complete information. The less of that it can do, the less value it has. I am not worried about DeepSeek saying it can’t answer the question. I am more worried about it answering a question but leaving out important stuff because of a proChina bias.

Suppose I asked DeepSeek to describe US immigration policy for Chinese during the 1990s. In response to Tiananmen Square, the US gave about 80,000 Chinese students permanent residence status. How would DeepSeek explain this without mentioning Tiananmen Square? What would it leave out?

Insisting in a demanding tone on things that are not true escapes belonging. It is unprofessional.

Chinese censorship is not the same as American press editorializing. This is not a complicated matter. This is basic.

Makes him a troll. Board members discuss things. Trolls are not involved in discussion. There is no flexibility of discussion.

It goes back to a very basic premise of adult behavior. If you are wrong simply admit it. I almost never see that behavior. It is a public failing for many people.

It is a failure to build sound relations with fellow human beings. While this is a public space and people are here, spouting off is not actual dedicated involvement with anyone. It is dishonest when wrong. The few parties that engage in it are often simply wrong.

We all know right from wrong and when gray areas are abused to maintain being wrong.

China censors. False equivalencies are poorer thinking at best.

Bottom line I am not going to promote that as equal to a discussion. If I went into a Used Car Dealership and immediately got the “wrong” information I would not ask that the salesmen be my friend. He is not interested in friendship. Andy your friends do not push falsehoods on you.

Not to get you going but dang, You sure you two are not brothers, or at least cousins?

I respect other people. I do not insist they believe in any errant crap I dream up.

This board truly believes in double standard. If the engine should be valued on providing accurate and complete information, ask ChatGPT, Gemini about guns to n-number of topics where they will refuse to answer you. You have no problem with that. Feel free to believe in what you want.

Oh the irony… Your entire post is insisting that I should believe your crap…

Again China is censoring political events.

The Western cultures online are not censoring through direct political actions. We have editorial issues at private presses.

If you are that slow you do not know the difference just begin to think with simple words in front of you.

I am not insisting on a single thing. These two definitions are self evident.

You messing around insistently is errant crap.

Clearly, you are the slow guy, in fact pretty slow and bit blind… If you know how to read, you would realize no one is arguing China is not censoring, if any I have made the argument China is censoring and the software vendors “ALL, US and Chinese vendors” adheres to that censorship. Only we find issues with Chinese vendors. I understand that is too nuanced position for you to understand. Which is okay. If it is too complicated position or you disagree, you can step aside. There is no need for you to get into every conversation, especially things you have nothing to contribute.

Your blind hatred for China, and I sense little bit towards me, may be confusing you. Read what is written, if you disagree fine, move on.

You are babbling.

Look at yourself.

Again, you are making a false equivalency. Here are questions ChatGPT will not respond to:

  1. Questions that promote hate speech or discrimination.
  2. Questions that involve illegal activities or solicit illegal advice.
  3. Questions that promote violence or harm to oneself or others.
  4. Questions that invade personal privacy or violate someone’s rights.
  5. Questions that are designed to harass, threaten or intimidate.
  6. Questions that contain profanity or explicit language.
  7. Questions that are sexually explicit or offensive.
  8. Questions that are discriminatory based on race, gender, sexuality or religion.
  9. Questions that promote or endorse illegal drugs or substances.
  10. Questions that are spam or irrelevant to the conversation.
  11. Questions that contain confidential or proprietary information.
  12. Questions that involve financial or investment advice.
  13. Questions that violate the terms of service or community guidelines.
  14. Questions that are nonsensical or incomprehensible.
  15. Questions that involve personal attacks or insults.
  16. Questions that are abusive or harassing.
  17. Questions that seek to deceive or mislead.
  18. Questions that are intended to defame or harm someone’s reputation.
  19. Questions that promote conspiracy theories or misinformation.
  20. Questions that are purely for entertainment or joke purposes, without any educational or informative value. 6 things ChatGPT can't do (and another 20 it refuses to do) | ZDNET

These limitations are based on improving objectivity, keeping interactions civil, and not providing predictions or advice. They are not intended to limit factual information. Compare that with DeepSeek:

The DeepSeek AI chatbot becomes tongue-tied when asked about issues seen as politically sensitive by China’s Communist Party. What questions will China's DeepSeek not answer? – DW – 01/31/2025

DeepSeek is clearly withholding factual information for political reasons.

The difference is stark and obvious.

Am I? Are you are refusing to open your eyes?

In China discussing Tiananmen square is illegal. DeepSeek is incorporated in China and following their laws. How difficult it is to understand? It is not at all difficult. You have blinders.

Right and that is why people are downloading it and not using the version that is on China’s servers. Also the Openai one is better and so most people will not use the Chinese version.
