What will be future identity of Berkshire?
- A conglomerate of operating companies?
- An Insurance company that holds operating business?
Greg is not an insurance guy, so looks like #1. Thoughts?

What’s the argument against it to remain both v. one or the other?

The brutal truth is that BRK without Buffett makes little sense. There is no core competency.
Moreover, the underlying businesses underperform their peers.
See’s, NetJets, BNSF, Precision etc. all could be better. Even Geico has been lagging Progressive for many years.
I think MidAmerican is a shining star but it is bumping up against govt. regulations.
