There is a major rhubarb in Michigan about the number of fraudulent unemployment claims too. Not surprising, considering the huge increase in the number of people applying for benefits, and a department that could not be scaled up rapidly, due to the plague and budget constraints. The “news” had people on every day, crying a river they had not gotten money, so, of course, incentives were skewed to pay the money out quickly.
