BMB Prediction: Elon Screwed the Pooch

“Conflict of interest” is a “traditional American value”, just like paying bribes and demanding kickbacks.

But does the judge own X/Twitter stock?

X is privately owned: Musk and VCs.

To directly answer your question… IDK.
But a couple shell companies and some $ in a VC might “make it so”.

The real question is, how does a judgement against X/Twitter affect the price of Tesla?

A couple updates:

From the WSJ :

The $13 billion that Elon Musk borrowed to buy Twitter has turned into the worst merger-finance deal for banks since the 2008-09 financial crisis.

The seven banks involved in the deal, including Morgan Stanley and Bank of America, lent the money to the billionaire’s holding company to take the social-media platform, now named X, private in October 2022. Banks that provide loans for takeovers generally sell the debt quickly to other investors to get it off their balance sheets, making money on fees.

The banks haven’t been able to offload the debt without incurring major losses—largely because of X’s weak financial performance—leaving the loans stuck on their balance sheets, or “hung” in industry jargon. The resulting write-downs have hobbled the banks’ loan books and, in one case, was a factor that crimped compensation for a bank’s merger department, according to people involved with the deal.

…Steven Kaplan, a professor of finance at the University of Chicago who has tracked such deals since the 1980s, said Twitter isn’t only the biggest hung deal by dollar amount since the 2008 financial crisis but one of the biggest of all time.

And Elon continues to pizz off advertisers. Verified users with hundreds of thousands of followers are posting Nasi and white supremist content. World Bank stops paid advertising as a result.

I’m not sure where to draw the moderation line, but surely there must be a place between TMF and Twitter that works. Maybe the old TMF rules.

If Americans knew why Bibi faces charges in Israel…they would not comprehend what happened. Minor? No minute.

If I understand your comment correctly, the difference is USians have “rights”.

Steve

The opposite.

US politics are extremely corrupt. Israeli politics are not. Americans would be shocked at politicos being held accountable to such an extent.

In the Jewish culture tough stances are taken. Direct comments are made. That is shocking Americans when Bibi is quoted. The bad guy is taking future violence off the table. He is not drawing out the violence for another time or for other ME capitals.

We old phartz remember ABSCAM. The FBI doesn’t do ops like that anymore. Corruption is “a traditional American value”. If you are against corruption, you “hate America”. Of course, we don’t call it “corruption” anymore. Now it’s “Freeedom”.
