Apparently, 50% of consumers think the exporting countries will pay the tariffs.
Even if they finally twig, they will be OK with it. Because Sean Hannity will be telling them “boy, we are really sticking it to those foreigners!!! USA #1, USA #1!! USA #1!!!”
Steve
Just bought some wood working tools from a Canadian company yesterday. Made and shipped from Ontario. Website didn’t mention any “buy now before the tariff” nor did the customer service rep say anything when I called in my order.
FWIW, exchange rate is around $1.40 CAD to $1 US and was around $1.15 ten years ago. IF tariffs take place and IF it hurts the Canadian economy, the Canadian dollar will take a hit and the increased cost will be made up for in the falling CAD.
Would almost assume the same thing for small businesses getting supplies and/or products from Canada. Increased tariff cost offset by falling CAD.
Mexico, no idea, but probably close enough.
