buyback rumor

A couple days ago wecoguy mentioned a rumor about Apple increasing its stock buyback. Today I saw it mentioned it but didn’t have much detail so I looked for more info and found it here.

Good catch, I have 9/5 as one of y tabs but don’t always get back to all their articles every day…

From the article “In an article from Bloomberg, Citigroup analyst Jim Suva states that Apple may soon announce a stock buyback of up to $90 billion. In addition, the company will also raise its dividend by 5% to 10%. Second-quarter results are due to close on April 28.”

In addition, the company will also raise its dividend by 5% to 10%

What does this mean? I thought the dividend was currently .22 per share per quarter, which would be .88 per share per year?

…it means, rather than paying .22 per quarter Apple would pay .23 or .24 cents per quarter…

Ah. Ok, less significant a change than I was thinking.
