Two down, ten to go. That’s what remains of Russia’s landlocked Black Sea fleet. Without naval power cutting off Ukraine from the Black Sea becomes unlikely.

The difference would be the distance of the road wouldn’t it?
Then there is the citizenry - Donbas is in the midst of a traditional Rus-leaning and Rus-populated
area.
