Censored Macro Impact

Let me start by saying that it’s bonkers that posts about serious national security issues are being censored by this board. National security has obvious maco economic impacts. When other countries don’t trust us, we are more vulnerable. This affects our economy, security, and foreign relations / trade.

A member of the Yale University faculty was on Amanpour last night. He was talking about how Columbia knuckled under to the administration’s demands. He commented on how Yale administration has decided to “keep it’s head down”, so the administration will not go after them. He mentioned one of the law firms that the administration has attacked. Did the other law firms rally around the attacked firm to support it’s independence? No. Other law firms started stealing their clients. So the law firm knuckled under. Just like some of the companies I worked for. Spout management’s narrative, no matter how delusional, or suffer the consequences.

The attacks on media will escalate. A free press is anathema to dictators.

I remember asking my grandpa what the picture of the three wise monkeys hanging on his wall meant.

He also had one of these.

His lessons still guide me today. Being a wise monkey is a choice regarding how we choose to act. Those with their head up their arse don’t see, can’t hear, and have very muffled speech.

Looks like you got censored, Steve203. But I got your message in email before it was removed.

It did not seem to be out of line.

Moshe Dayan said that one should read what the enemy writes. He quipped that had Gamal Abdel Nasser read his treatsie on desert warfare, Israel might have lost the Six Day War.

“If you want to make peace, you don’t talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies.”
― Moshe Dayan

“When you accept our views we shall be in full agreement with you.”

From Steve203:

The only way I find out what is happening in much of the world, given the USian media’s obsession with “severe weather” and fawning over “celebs” and British royals, is the foreign broadcasts carried by PBS, usually the BBC broadcast originating in Singapore. By the way, in the on going political crisis in South Korea, that the US media does not report on, the court has dropped charges against the PM, but has yet to make a decision regarding President Yoon.

Anyway, back to control of the narrative in the US. Picking up where TIG was threatening the broadcast licenses of outlets that did not report things the way he wanted, on the last go around.

Seems discussing efforts to censor the media are verboten.

Is that irony? I’m never quite certain.

Regarding Moshe, Gideon Rafael said:

"Rocking the boat is his favorite tactic, not to overturn it, but to sway it sufficiently for the helmsman to lose his grip or for some of its unwanted passengers to fall overboard.”

Seems like a solid tactic, especially when you’re on a boat headed in a dangerous direction.

No doubt confidence will be swiftly restored… anytime soon…
