This guy, fluent in Mandarin and other dialects, has long done anti-hysterical carefully researched podcasts on the Chinese economy.
We are now seeing clear signs of radical deflation following on from the danger signs of extremely dangerous levels of largely unaccounted debt in China, and the government is prepping to crush popular discontent — troops posted outside major schools, etcs.
I think the China story is weirdly boring (same old same old except rapidly worsening and problems ever more intensely ignored by government “sources” for years), and most western news sources simply oblivious.
The US/Taiwan connection at this moment would be a full scale war before dawn the moment there was an attack on the island. China can not lose its armed forces right now. The college students would overthrow Xi next. Gain Taiwan and lose the king.
Adding
There is another matter for China. We are entering a trade war with very high tariffs. China in products exports a lot of chips. Taiwan is a major producer of chips. It is worth much less within months. The entire war would come up with an empty treasure chest.
