China gains another advantage?

The price of oil is up. It is up a lot in Australia. Some of the Asian countries have oil reserves. Some do not. Some countries will see less impact because the have a domestic energy industry. (I am thinking Brazil and Mexico) Other will see massive immediate impacts. I am thinking Guatemala and Argentina.

Some of these countries have free trade agreements with China that allows China to import car and trucks into those countries duty free. (I am thinking Chili)

China is now producing very fine EV cars and trucks and motorcycles at prices that compete with ICE vehicles at the sticker price. It is MY OPINION that the spike in oil prices will drive many more Chinese EV sales through out the Global South (Or the majority countries, or the developing world or the Third World or whatever)

The immediate shock and the loss of a trading partner will give China an near term economic setback. But it is possible that it will set the stage for widespread EV adoption and closer economic ties with many nations.

I did not include Europe in this but it may provide inroads for Chinese EV manufactures in Europe as well. But for me Europe seems very complicated and making sense of what is happening is beyond me so making predictions is even more difficult.

But maybe I will run this idea through GROK and see what it thinks.

Why GROK? There are other models that perform significantly better.

I agree that high oil/gasoline prices will drive more EV adoption. USians voted for Trump who promised to reduce energy, food, housing, medical and school costs. But that promise was just a political scam.

Ouch, that sounds uncomfortable. I probably wouldn’t click on it either…
