IIRC, they were the only country to not withdraw their Olympic bid. Hosting costs $$$$$ and the IOC has unrealistic expectations/demands about venues. Eventually the Olympics will start rotating through about 5 host cities that already have existing venues. An occasional new city will get a one time deal.
