When there was more coal dust in the air blotting out the Sun, it didn’t get as hot and hurricanes had less energy.

However, satellite data over the last 40 years show no increase in ACE (accumulated cyclone energy).

I remember a few decades ago, a large volcano spouted tons and tons of ash out for nearly a year. They said that that alone reduced average temperatures on earth by nearly 2 degrees for a year or two.

Yes, that would have been Mt. Pinatubo in the Philippines. The 1991 eruption was the biggie of the 20th century. Global temps dropped by about 0.4°C
