Current tech is to use pharma grade materials. That incurs a financial AND environmental cost (per the article) that is 4x current production methods. Thus, there is an incentive to move to more conventional technologies that can support volume production at a reasonable cost (both $$$ and environmental).

Like having the male of the species impregnate the female, having the female carry the resulting f3tus and birth it, then feeding and growing it, and then slaughtering it for meat? 
Most of us are meat eaters and enjoy a good steak once in a while. Raising meat is traditional but fundamentally messy with lots of waste along the way.
Cultured meat has many potential plusses. Lets encourage developers to continue their efforts to perfect the process.
