DAL pulling guidance

** Delta Air Lines won’t expand flying in the second half of the year because of disappointing bookings amid President Donald Trump’s shifting trade policies, which CEO Ed Bastian called “the wrong approach.”**

It looks like they are having problems with people not wanting to fly into the United States. Looks like our border policy is working.

Dear Andy,

My BIL has a lab tech who in February went to Canada. He is on a visa. He was held at the border not allowed to reenter the US. He has a wife and kids here.

Meanwhile someone who backs Putin was telling me in person four days ago that people easily travel abroad.

Someone else at work is heading to Germany. His family is here. There is no reason to impede him but…

Gee, you think?

Recent figures show a decline in border crossings. And **flight bookings between Canada and the US for travel between April to September show a precipitous drop of more than 70% compared to the same period last year** , according to aviation analytics company OAG.

Canadian Airlines Refute 70% Drop in Bookings to US

One senior-level executive at a major Canadian airline told Open Jaw the figures simply aren’t true. “The OAG data are dead wrong, and we have told them so,” the executive said. “Those numbers are not approaching reality.”

An Air Canada spokesman said the 70% figure isn’t in line with what Air Canada is seeing “Several media have reported on a blog based upon preliminary OAG data, stating that advanced bookings between Canada and the US are down about 70% compared to last year,” spokesman Christophe Hennebelle said in an email to Open Jaw. “However, we can confirm that this is not reflective of Air Canada’s booking patterns, nor the state of the market, based on all information sources available to us…

“WestJet is aware of a recent report claiming bookings to the U.S. from Canada through Summer 2025 are down 70% compared to last year; however, this data is inconsistent with our travel bookings,” the company said in an email. "WestJet can confirm a recent shift in bookings from transborder flights between Canada and the U.S. toward other sun destinations such as Mexico and the Caribbean, and to transatlantic destinations.

I wonder where OAG is getting its numbers then…just making them up?

I tried to tell one of my conservative communist managers who supports TIG and Putin that people were not allowed back in.

He said his mother in law was allowed back in. I should have asked was that before Trump came to office? He is up there in the dictionary under…

He mumbled something about discussing my politics with our department manager. Little does he know I curse regularly with her about TIG and she loves it. She hates her subordinate, the guy who would report me.

Does he have contacts with her boss? You and she could both be on the street in days. Of, she could sell you out, to save her own skin.

Steve

Not at all. But she has contacts above our general manager.

He has one lower ranking guy just above her. That guy does not know how bigoted he is. He bad mouths darker skinned Latinos all day long. That guy is Latino. He works hard to butter him up all day long. If he only knew.

The management knows what I say and who I say it to. They are all good with it. The clients if they touch on poli or econ know as well. Even the old friends who disagree with me completely who are clients are good with it.

Only the Latino manager who knows nothing likes him. Our main manager got tricked by the guy last year when he went for a raise outside of channels. The rest of the management has their radar up on him. He screws up all communications around raises.

Oh and he talks more politics than the rest of us. The staff would like to see him dumped. We are DEI and he is not. He offends just about all of us.
