DC Law Firm Ends 2nd Amd Practice

Kirkland & Ellis, one of the nation’s largest, big money corporate law firms announced today that it was ending its Second Amendment law practice. Partner Paul Clement, who recently won the landmark Supreme Court case greatly expanding the free-range distribution of firearms will leave the firm.

Success has its costs. No doubt the big money corporate clients expressed unease about being associated with a law firm championing more guns.

I suspect corporations will vote with their money on other “business killing” issues like abortion, marriage rights, etc.

I expect the assault from corporate mouthpieces to be on the “job killing big gummit regs” like requiring “JCs” to actually pay their employees.

That’s always going to be the case. But corporations are now also wary of anything on the consumer side that hurts sales or client retention.

Look at how quickly Franklin Templeton fired that female MBA when she falsely claimed that a black birdwatcher in Central Park was “assaulting” her and her dog.

Looks like a win-win.

The big law firm gets to “virtue signal” to those opposed to 2A and not risk loosing clients.

The winner at SCOTUS gets to open his own law firm where pro 2A groups will more than likely bring their business.
