The EU seems to have come to the realization that it is up to them to provide the wherewithal for Ukraine’s survival.
The delay of the US Ukraine funding has hurt Ukraine. There is no longer full support for Ukraine within the USA at this time. There is a possibility, low methinks, that US support for Ukraine ends.
Ukraine is in the EU’s back yard. And the EU no longer has 100% certainty of US continued support. So it is stepping up or tossing Ukraine under the bus.
Micael Johansson, chief executive officer of Swedish aerospace and defense company Saab, said the target of 1 million ammunition rounds was realistic and Saab could provide 400,000 rounds alone from its Swedish plant.
Johansson said Europe has been “too dependent” on the United States and needs to increase its sovereign capabilities. “If we are at 70-30 dependent on the U.S. today we need to shift that around to 30-70 for sovereign capabilities,” he said.

EU shifts to defense spending increase. That will be financed through debt or reduction of spending in other sectors of the respective nations. Reduced competition from EU products as industrial base moves to war footing?
