Doge is now restricted at the Treasury.
Well, they say it is restricted.

Who exactly is permitted to look at this sensitive information? Are govt employees to be trusted with it?
If a govt contractor has a security clearance and needs access to the info to do their project, access should be allowed.
Yes, any govt employee can potentially misuse the info they have access to. We have laws to prevent that.
The arguments against Musk having access are far fetched at best. People imagine that he might misuse the info. Is there any history of his misuse of such info?
I think the short answer is a big “NO.” The vast majority of Treasury Department employees cannot even access this data.
It is ironic in many ways that for lots of us who worked for companies and organizations over the past four decades have had to take training in what is and what is not PEI and how it is illegal to disclose private information. Many of us also had to have HIPAA training. Much of this came out of the Privacy Act of 1974:
(anyone remember Nixon and Watergate?)
That a few unelected programming folks have access to any of this is both unethical and illegal (and more than a little dangerous for the entire populace, btw).
