Future of German Automakers Not Good

Do not forget about Porsche and Audi with deep ties to VW.

Selling a lot of Duesenbergs these days are they? (It’s a doozy!). And those Lincoln Continentals! Tons of those flying off the assembly lines too, eh?

Truth is, overpriced “high quality” products are just as vulnerable to market trends and fashion as any other. While the brand value may have some momentum, it can erode into nothingness if it finds itself on the wrong side of consumer preferences and doesn’t adjust smartly and timely.

Mercedes & BMWs have been in business for 100+ years. They survived 2 world wars and a depression.Their vehicles are desired by the customer for styling, performance, styling, innovative technology & quality. Many Americans are attracted by the image of sophistication & differentiation from staid American brands. It is a way to stand out. A vehicle is NOT transportation to them; it is a lifestyle. And let’s face it snob appeal. There will always be folks out there to sell the image. Mercedes & BMWs engineering just have to maintain the cutting edge.

I expect Mercedes & BMWs to remain a force until human drivers are banned.

Yes! Yes!
