General Motors is offering buyouts to U.S. Buick dealers that don’t want to make investments in the brand’s transition to exclusively offer all-electric vehicles domestically by 2030.
The buyout offers are the latest efforts by GM to accelerate the company’s electric vehicle plans and transform its sales network.
The company offered similar buyouts to Cadillac dealers in 2020.

Maybe GM is using the EV tsunami as the cover story to get rid of the millstones hurting their business, dealers! Even without taking into account the dislike many buyers have for dealers, imagine the savings in less inventory sitting in dealer lots. In theory they have been purchased but it is still dead money.
Inventory is a necessary evil but some inventories are un-necessary evils.
