HPE buys Nimble storage for $1B


I thought HPE may be a potential suitor for HDP. The recent moves shows HPE is firmly positioning itself as a hardware company. Given the spinoff of their software assets perhaps HPE may not be interested in HDP.

It makes me wonder who are potential suitors for HDP?

IBM for one. They love to acquire fast growing niche s/w companies.

HDP is not a fit for IBM. Also, I am wondering whether IBM is going to do what HPE is doing? That is split. That could unlock some value and set a new direction. IBM could become a complete SW company.
