Yep, there was a reddit review that said Hao noted how Altman read Napoleon and studied cult leaders. She went on to quote him as saying “the best way to start a religion is to start a company.” This is a touchstone she uses to then report in meticulous detail how OpenAI was built like a temple, with a messianic mission to save the world from AGI by building it first.
Very smart, but very manipulative, Hao is skeptical of any of Altman’s altruistic sounding words concluding that “when he says something to someone, it’s more tightly correlated with what he thinks they need to hear than what he actually believes or the truth.”
He does sound so very 2020s, though.

It is creepy. We get that from all sides endlessly.

They all want Trump to default. They are the very rich. Some will get the blame. Others will try to share the blame. The public will have the last say, but most will be out of luck. And luck it has been. Had been.
