Hi PB, will take you up on your offer to deep dive on diabetes stocks…
I have been in and out of TNDM this year with not much success.
However, as a result, have done some study on PODD, DXCM and others. PODD and TNDM have had fantastic year this year… i just have been late to the party…
On a personal level, One of my friend’s son unfortunately died this year due to type1 diabetes out of control…
All in all, I agree, this is a market in secular growth… and need for products like PODD, TNDM, DXCM…
Question in my head is, where can they go from here…
One major source of growth for TNDM (and I would think for PODD as well) last two years has been J&J’s stepping out of the market creating market share grab for these two companies (specially TNDM)… but this is one time event and revenue growth going forward should be back to natural market growth… (which I remember right, is in low teens but nowhere near what TNDM delivered in last few quarters).
BTW - healthcare and biotech in general has had much better Q4 than SAAS stocks… and with health care being one of punching bag for politicians, I wonder if it is a good time to stay on side line till elections…
your insight is appreciated.
