NY just opted in today, the other states have until 1/1/24. States will choose to participate, if this program makes sense for them.
Alaska won’t participate because of administrative cost and the fact that they’re already swamped by a backlog of food stamp applications. They announced they’d be open to participating in the future. Seems like they put some thought into that decision.
Iowa put out a press release and Nebraska responded to a press inquiry. Both included statements about not believing in welfare for struggling families and children. When you make douchey statements, you get bad press.
So no welfare for JCs, right?
