Over 10 Percent of Tesla Model S EVs Fail Germany’s Strict Inspection After 3 Years
“While Tesla has become one of the foremost players at the cutting edge of electric vehicle technologies, it has for a long time struggled to match traditional automakers in terms of industrial output and, crucially, quality. News from Germany brings the issue into clear focus, as Tesla’s Model S has come out rather unfavorably versus its EV competition, as reported by Merkur.de.”
Then there’s the horror story of the Tesla owner with high mileage needing a $22,000 battery to make the car run again…
I’m not trying to defend Tesla. They over-promise, under-deliver. Especially with FSD. And they have quality issues. And spare parts issues. I could go on. But that battery price. I urge you go to look at the cost to rebuild an engine and a transmission of a COMPARABLE gas car in that segment. It might surprise you how expensive that is.

Heck, you can buy a brand new GM transmission for $4000 or so.
Honda or Toyota? Go 350,000 miles or more on original engine, no rebuild.
Yeah, my Buick LeSabre cost me $2500 to rebuilt transmission after 225,000 miles. That only because it lost ‘over drive’. Still running.
