Major League Baseball's new Torpedo Bats

..give power hitters a measurable advantage. Odd that no one thought of this until now.

This may be like how improvements in golf clubs are requiring Tournament Directors to greatly increase the length of the golf courses to use because players are hitting the ball “too far.”

Interesting that Judge doesn’t use a torpedo bat.
Hitting against a Major League fastball is rated as one of the very hardest things to do in all of Sports, so if these guys think the torpedo bat helps, then have at it.

Detroit Tigers need to give them a try, lol. All of their young guys are hitting better than last year, as they get used to hitting ML pitching, but they’re still below average.

I thought the Torpedo Bat was what was used to smash the head of the world’s economies in the style of Robert DiNero in The Untouchables on Wednesday after the close of the markets in the US.

Not so unusual. Weird that it took 100 years for someone to come up with “bigger golf club head”, or golf tees or dimples on golf balls to make them travel farther. Or, as I saw on a History Channel doc the other day “the catcher’s mitt” and “webbing” in fielders gloves. Seriously? The catchers were catching bare handed? Wowsa!

Technology moves ahead. Even in baseball, a notoriously hidebound sport which took 20 years to figure out that spectators didn’t want to watch a guy adjust his crotch or his shoes for 30 seconds between every pitch.

Anything for the media to hype. A few years ago, it was “bottle” bats, with the dished far end, so the barrel could be made a bit thicker.

Exactly why I don’t watch baseball.

The Yankees are falling back anyway.

The Sox are rising.
