This is an insane expense for something you only use one week out of the year.

Have you ever been to Augusta for Masters week ?
I guess it’s a tough ticket to get, lol, google states that the waiting-list is closed.
I’m thinking the golf-club is sitting on an enormous pile of investments, so not surprised that they have the infrastructure described. Also read that the Masters does not scalp it’s patron’s while they are there for the day. Unlike MLB, lol, they take the captive audience status of their attendee’s to full milking capacity. No bigee, it’s easy enough to meet up at a bar near the stadium and grab a
bite.
For anybody that likes an MLB team but doesn’t want to pay to watch them on TV, I came across an app called
TVapp that streams for free. I watched a couple of innings of a Tiger’s game last night, and the main menu had a slate of games that were available to view, live. I was shocked, as in Michigan, Bally Sports has fiercely protected their right to block all non-subscribers from watching. I can only watch a couple of innings, as baseball moves pretty slow ( although much, much better with the pitch clock ), so I’m probably not ever going to subscribe to a paid site to check out Detroit Tigers. I’ll pay to watch playoff baseball in the Fall, though.
I like seeing the best in the world do their thing against each other.
Remember when Martha Burk was protesting The Masters over 20 years ago over women members (or lack of)? Some of the threatened backlash over sponsors was getting some companies nervous. The Masters said, don’t worry, we will go sponsor less this year, we don’t need the money. So yes, they have an enormous pile somewhere.
Also, there is no waiting list to get a ticket, they have a lottery. I’ve applied every year for the past 10 years and have yet to win. Did have a friend on the alumni board win one.
