Did you expect a different result with almost every Member of Congress on the take, and many of the senior staff in the White House with ties to the drug industry?
Also the lower prices don’t take effect until 2026. {{ LOL }}

Secretary Becerra was asked today why the price rollout was January 2026 instead of January 2025 (or now) and he pointed out this was the timeline that Congress set even though the Department could implement this now.

Everyone is pandering.
The prices are NEGOTIATED. Suppliers need an incentive to negotiate. They are unlikely to sell at a loss.
The incentive is the government negotiating a better deal with a competitive product giving the other guys a competitive advantage. Plus prices to other countries are known.
New drugs with better performance are likely to still be costly. But copies of competitors products have a problem. They have to be cheaper.
Old drugs usually have better efficacy and are safer. Yes the bull around new drugs is immense.
The Europeans and other first world nations negotiate and pharma loves them.
