iirc, the insurance companies were big donors in 2000, and 2004. Medicare parts C and D were both written during that period, specifically to shovel money through the hands of the insurance companies, so they could skim the cash flow.

A current joke/meme is politicians need to be like NASCAR drivers wearing labels of all their “sponsors/donors”.

I have commented before, on the number of shareholder proposals to require the company to disclose who they are bribing, how big the bribe is, and why the company is paying the bribe. Management always insists it’s bribing activities must be secret.

It’s almost like DrBob has a particular Party he backs, lol.
I respect his intelligence, and he certainly has a right to voice his support of this powerplay. Great digging on your part to show that Stats can show a whole lot of " bought and sold" servitude in Pols that the OP somehow didn’t dig up, lol.

I agree with intercst, both Party’s are corrupt. But right now, only 1 is threatening to burn the Country down. Most all of us have a pretty good life. But some are willing to throw it all away, and follow the ideology of Project 2025, and a man who bankrupted casinos. Pretty bizarre. And very MACROECONOMIC.

My thing is the January 6th insurrection. How anyone can support anyone who would do that is beyond me. Also, when everyone has to explain, that something you see with your own eyes, or hear with your own ears, really isn’t what you saw or heard, well that to me is a cult. I don’t like dealing with cults.

Those folks have been fed a narrative, for forty years, that the government is the enemy, so they would naturally think burning it down would be a good thing.

Pure Hollywood over-hyped drama having little to do with reality and a great deal to do with USAian racism mixed with ignorance of economics.

The situation has mostly become worse.

The one that got me was Senator Harris – over $11 million in only three years. That’s heavy-duty professional grade.

I agree, that should be illegal. Both sides bought and paid for.

And a great big thank you to the Supremes and Citizens’ United!

That is just one sector of the economy. You see that site you gave everyone allows you to choose the sector that most heavily supports either party. You chose the one that supported Democrats but as you saw, I chose the one that supported Republicans. All of that doesn’t even show the monies that Elon Musk used to become President and sit in the white house.

What this should show us that the Supreme court was wrong to allow all this money from corporations to influence elections. Our Government is bought and paid for on both sides of the aisle.

We now know (thank you Federalist Society notes) that SCOTUS with “money = politically protected speech” gave their law school student cocktail party+ sponsors exactly what they wanted. We are getting it “good and hard” at a level that has already proven poisonous to a healthy republican culture.

What do you think about Elon giving $100 million in one year to Trump? Would that be called Super-duty pro professional grade?
