Elon Musk and his cost-cutting U.S. DOGE Service team have been on a mission to trim government largesse. Yet Musk is one of the greatest beneficiaries of the taxpayers’ coffers.
Over the years, Musk and his businesses have received at least $38 billion in government contracts, loans, subsidies and tax credits, often at critical moments, a Washington Post analysis has found, helping seed the growth that has made him the world’s richest person.
What!? I have been told by the government & reported by the main stream media this has only occurred for Chinese EV manufacturers by the Chinese government. Could the reason behind the 100% tariff on Chinese EVs is because their lower cost of production of superior products makes its impossible for legacy US auto manufacturers to compete? Or is it just that the Chinese government is more generous with their help compared to US subsidizing EVs?

Here is the question at hand: Are Tesla and the government “related parties” for purposes of generally accepted accounting principles? The answer would appear to be yes, as wild as that might seem.
The related-party designation would mean Tesla, in its disclosures to investors, could have to start reporting transactions it has with the government if they are significant.
