And yet, “The top ten percent of households own 76% of all wealth in the U.S.”
Looks like the Democrats might be going further Left. Exactly what scares the other side. FDR here we come.
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
True in physics and politics.
Exactly, all the ones who said they wanted to stay centered. Well, they should have stayed centered.
Was discussed on ABC this morning. Comment was the Democrats need to get their act together. And Sanders has the following to provide leadership. But Democrats need to move to center for next election. Sanders attracts young liberal voters but not independents.
In interview he said he is in favor of immigration reform and control of the borders. (Why didn’t they pass that last time Democrats were in control?) A moderate position. But refused to endorse AOC for Senate.
I saw that and he didn’t say the Democrats need to move to the center for next election. In fact they said that the Republicans should have moved to the center and instead went far to the right with Trump. So maybe the Democrats should go to the left. All of the ladies agreed including the Republicans. As far as refusing to endorse AOC you would have to understand Sanders and Schumer’s relationship at this time which they also discussed.
Kamala was the Center and now the Democrats are seeing how that goes.
Because Trump! They worked out a very strong bill in cooperation with the Rs and then Trump said no because he wanted the border as a campaign issue.
The Pareto or Power Law Distribution at work.
The Captain
Trump didn’t take office until Jan 20th, so actually border crossings are up under Trump from 43 to 331. You need to be able to read your own information. LOL
Yes!
For decades, democrats have had terrible negotiating skills, following the republicans rightward.
When republicans go far right democrats should go farther left, to get the center where it was 50 years ago.
And that’s just a start. Dems need to address wealth inequality in everything they do.
- Border officials encountered migrants trying to cross the U.S. southern border 20,086 times during Biden’s last seven days in office. That’s an average of 2,869 times a day.
- During Trump’s first seven days, border officials encountered migrants trying to cross the U.S. southern border 7,287 times. An average of 1,041 times a day.
That’s a 60 percent drop, not a 95 percent drop as the White House claimed in its Instagram post.
Additionally, the White House and Fox News are using encounters both at official ports of entry and between them. Under Biden’s administration, people could make appointments at official ports of entry and be legally allowed to enter the U.S. to seek asylum. Those appointments still counted as encounters, even though they did not not represent illegal immigration. Trump ended that program on his first day in office and cancelled all existing appointments.
Comment that Sanders takes Dems to left when they need to move to center on ABC was part of Roundtable discussion. About Sanders, not from Sanders.
The problem with Democrats move to the left is it turns off blue collar voters. Trump was able to exploit this last time.
Moving to extremes on both sides makes it difficult to claim independents. Moderate issues like inflation are more fertile ground.
I would not want to be Putin.
Making health care affordable, increasing wages, addressing housing affordability, and higher education costs are things blue collar voters care about.
A lot of people frame moving to the left solely in terms of cultural issues. This is a result of those in power sucessfully executing a divide and conquer strategy. Many are covinced they should care more about trans athletes than wealth inequality.
I’d bet you’d be surprised by the number of voters who agree with loony left policies.
So true, and yet many continue to vote against their own interests that build a better society for all, partly because they are afraid of the words liberal, left, and progressive. Conservative sounds more stable, and it should be, conserving time honored valuable principles that hold a society together. But modern ‘conservatives’ are extremists and elitists, destroying the government that built a solid society. I think they’ve become fearful, cynical, and selfish. The only thing they want to conserve is their wealth and power.
We need to unite for common good.
I don’t know about you, but I’m fearful, I’m cynical. Most are not selfish, they’re being exploited by those who are.
This isn’t a right or left thing, we’re all being exploited in some way or another.
