I wrote yesterday that I am watching “The Big Short” on endless repeat. There is a scene where Steve Carrell is in the audience for a mortgage investor presentation and interrupts to ask “Would you say the chances of stopping defaults at 5% is a possibility or a probability?” And sits down. And the speaker says “It is a strong probability”. And then Carrell interrupts again to shout “Zero! Zero! There is a ZERO chance that it will stop at 5%” and then interrupts himself to take a phone call.
That’s how I feel about the warming. We are asking people to reduce their lifestyle (use less energy), energy companies to make less profit (extract and refine less energy) and everyone to pay higher taxes to support the effort.
OF COURSE it’s easy to be against it with populist arguments - right up until it gets so hot that the frog has no choice but to jump out of the frying pan, by which it is too late.
