It took me about 4 months to decide on the best LTC fit for me. I started with Harry Crosby and then also worked with his son, Will.

Will is the VP of Sales & Marketing at Certified Senior Solutions Specialists located in the Columbia, South Carolina area. It doesn’t matter which state you are in (I am in Missouri) as they have clients all over the place. I appreciated that they were able to set up a “Zoom” type of computer meeting where they share the options of different companies and you both view it at the same time. Both Harry and Will are very soft-spoken and not pushy at all. You will like them.

My choice was to have two policies. One was from Guarantee Trust and the other from Aetna. Each policy handles different needs. At the time this was the most cost-effective way to go. Both men are very patient and don’t mind numerous questions. There really are many options out there.

Hope this helps!

P.S. - I was able to get a permanent 5% discount being a member of AMAC so you should find out if there are any discounts associated with something you are a member of.

15mg olanzapine/day means constipation despite a pretty anti-constipation diet.

The doc hasn’t given you something to counteract the constipating effect? One of the meds DH had been on to help with the neurologic issues in his leg was constipating, and the pain doc had him taking something to counter that. I wish I could remember what it was! If I can remember it, I’ll let you know. It would be an idea to mention this to his doc, and get a recommendation.

I realize that would mean yet another pill that he’d want to reject. But worth a try.

That sounds so good! The agent we had gone with presented just a single option—a New York State company. Each of the other 2 agents I discussed this with also offered only a single company, although one in particular seemed to me to have more flexibility, though also cost somewhat more.

Thanks so much for this. I’ll let you know what I learn!

I’ve cooked rice thousands of times, but we rarely eat it now as I’m a rice addict. As my diabetic brother sez, rice raises blood glucose as high and fast as sugar itself.

The advantage of using one of those pints? cups? of Chinese restaurant rice is there’s no opportunity for me to pig out on it!

He refused to take any of his after-dinner pills last night. And this morning he didn’t take 2 of them–sertraline (zoloft, for OCD) and finasteride (for enlarged prostate). He always spits out colace these days. I assume it tastes bad. Anyhow, I crushed his 2 untaken pills this monring and put them in yogurt, but he won;t eat it as he already had a big bowl of raisin bran.

I will try to remember to give him his pills before meals. Personally, I hate taking pills on an empty stomach–it usually hurts.
