As seems to be the case with me, coincidence rears its head once again…as in the topic of obesity and its consequences…
Most folk are aware of the strong relationship between excess adiposity and ASCVD and its surrogate markers of dyslipidemia, even if they choose to ignore such insight. More folk are becoming aware of the strong influence of genetics and familial hypercholesterolemia even with good custodianship of the body (and even more will be aware, if I have anything to do with it)
P.S…using the standard ASCVD risk calculator minus the CAC score as mentioned in the article has always…and still does…have me at a relatively low 10 year risk of major events. The CT angiography done as a follow-up to my eye popping Agatson score shows a level of disease that would probably have earned me a recommendation of a stent or six prior to the newer lipid lowering meds or with a less enlightened intervention cardiologist.
Agreed. I certainly changed in part with a look under the hood to see what was in my arteries. It was a haunting feeling at first. The cardiologist told me I had nothing to worry about. Three years later a different cardiologist told me the same.
